Products - Solo Bilge Pump Kit
This is the most popular electric bilge pump kit. The best features of the Attwood T1200 bilge pump are the light weight (14.1 oz), the pumping capacity, and the low 3.25 amperes required to run the pump at a rated 1200 gallons per hour. The Attwood T1200 cranks out 16.0 gallons per minute (1200/60*.8) using 80% efficiency with a foot of head at the discharge outlet. This translates to less weight, to less battery usage, and to longer run times than other brand bilge pumps, such as, Rule, Mayfair, and Whale. The 5.0 Ahr SLA battery (3.44 lbs) will run the bilge pump for 45 minutes before needing to be recharged (discharging 60% of capacity). The high capacity SLA battery is recommended for single & multi-day adventure trips. On adventure trips carry a spare SLA battery for a backup power source. The placement of the Attwood T1200 pump along the center-line of the boat will leave approximately 2.5 quarts of water in the boat. If you run whitewater rivers, this kit will meet your bilge pumping needs. For reliability and pump motor protection, the bilge pump has an in-line 5 amp mini fuse. It is much better to blow a $0.50 fuse, than a $55 bilge pump if a stick get struck in the pump. Blackfly, Esquif, Silverbirch, and Millbrook canoes, see Blackfly Photos and see Question 44 for additional information.
The kit includes the following items: installation instructions, the assembled pump with 5.0 Ahr SLA battery, a double insulated toggle switch with a protective screw-on boot cap, 5' marine bilge hose, a 2 stage SLA battery charger with alligator clips, bungee cords for securing the pump & outlet hose, attachment velcro & extra velcro strips, small plastic container with spare connectors & a spare 5 amp mini fuse, 1.5 oz of adhesive, gloves, & applicator sticks. The bilge pump comes with 29" of bundled wiring, so you can move components (battery & switch) about 12" - 15" from the pump. If you need 18" - 48" wiring from the pump please contact me at jtkcanoes[at]gmail.com, the extra charge will be $40.

The optional thru hull fitting comes in black molded plastic with a 90 degree bend for easy bilge hose attachment ($10 extra cost). Be sure to cut the bilge hose on each end in the cuffed region of the hose. This will allow for a tight fit up for the bilge pump outlet and thru hull fitting. You will need a 1 3/8" hole saw bit, a wrench to fit a 1 3/4" plastic nut, and a drill to make the installation. Place masking tape over the exterior location of thru hole before drilling. The bilge hose outlet hole can be placed 1'-4' in front of the bilge pump (place hole on your off-side so you can keep paddling with the pump on). The thru hull fitting hole should be located with a 1/2 inch clearance to the bottom side of the gunwale on the exterior side (measure from the bottom of the gunwale 1 1/4" to mark the center of the thru hull hole). Be sure to locate the thru hole away from the thwart attachment point (the hose would need to be located below the thwart).
Canadian orders are not available, see Question 48 for information.
